Enjoying the Morning Sun
After a cold night, Storm decided the best place to be was stretched out in the morning sun, warming up while his mate stood nearby on guard duty.
Seeing him this relaxed is something I still appreciate. A few short years ago, Storm was a wild Brumby living up in the mountains. These days, he’s settled into domestic life pretty well.
He’s been broken to saddle, enjoys liberty work, and is always showing just how smart he is. He picks things up quickly and seems to think his way through new situations rather than just react to them. That intelligence has probably helped make the transition from wild horse to riding horse smoother than many people would expect.
What stands out most is how comfortable he is now. Horses don’t lie down in the middle of the paddock unless they feel safe and at ease in their surroundings. Watching Storm sitting in the sun while his mate kept an eye on things was a good reminder of how far he’s come.
